Weigh in Day in Belton, TX

Hello from Belton, TX. Wish all of you could be here to see the turnout of the Chester, Poland and Spot breeders and the quality of animals that they have brought. I believe that everyone involved with these breeds should be impressed with the number of hogs and the quality of the offering.

Tomorrow, Mar 7th is show day starting with Berkshires at 8:00 followed by Chesters, then Polands and last be not least, Spots.

It is hot for this time of the year for Belton, TX with near records highs. Wednesday the temps were 82 and today it was similar. The barn was a little warm but the hogs did well. I saw two exhibitors with fans. So it is not too uncomfortable.

The Bell County Expo facility is very large and is comfortably handling all the purebred breeds and including the cross breed gilts and boars. The parking lot has a ton of trailers in it but parking for the show crowd and sale people will not be a problem.

The hotel accommodations are excellent with particularly nice closets as verified by some of the breeders visiting room 331.

Jack's birthday was Wednesday and all in attendance were welcomed to birthday cupcakes. Thanks Julie.

If you are coming down to Belton to find your next herd CPS boar or foundation females, make sure you bring your appetite as well. Belton and Salado have outstanding eating establishments with lots of barbeque joints and eateries. The hospitality is exactly what you would expect from the good people of Texas as they are super nice and cordial. (by the way, the Salado High School girls are playing for the State 2A Championship).

So as tomorrow is Show Day, the show order will be set and I hope you can all come and see the quality that is here as well as visit with all your fellow breeders. Hope we can give you more pig details tomorrow.

See you tomorrow.

CPS at Belton TX

The days at Belton TX are drawing closer. This will be a historic event. Not only will Chesters, Polands, Spots and Berks will be in Belton but the NSR breeds will also be at this venue. Showpig and Purebred enthusiast will be able to show and attend the Belton showcase of purebred power houses.

Here at RRG (Rincker & Richey Genetics) are excited. We will be attending and offering for review to the showpig nation the best we have. We look forward to sharing our power genetics which include a Gilt and Boar from our K line sow that was grandmother of 2008 WPX champion Poland Gilt and mother of the Reserve Champion gilt at 2008 Illinois Open show. These two littermates that we are taking to 2009 SWTC are sired by the great "HOLY COW" who sired the Reserve Champion Barrow at 2008 WPX over all breeds. Yes, you read that right. Poland barrows are competitive against all breeds and the two pigs we are bring to Belton will show you why. Make sure to look them up. They are different and different in a powerful way.

We will also be exhibiting gilts and another boar from the WW sow line bred to Bases Loaded ($34000 2007 STC Poland Boar housed at Center Prairie Boar Stud). If you need a barrow boar that can be used to move your Poland sows into competition with other breeds, come view this boar. He is really good. Sound, wide, level, excellent feet, big topped, and did I mention flat out good?

The gilts out of the WW sow line will not disappoint. We have spent a great deal of time putting together what we consider to be outstanding female lines that have an overpower characteristic. They are productive. These are not petite little gilts. They can compete with any white breed for growth, lean carcass growth, and sow productivity. These are docile excellent gilts. They will deserve your review.

Come see them and if you don't need a breeding animal today, we would enjoy meeting with you just the same.

See you in Belton, TX in March.
